Yang Gan: Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, Ren

Gan Zhi: A combination of Tian Gan and Di Zhi named “Gan Zhi”, e.g, Jia-Zi, Yi-Chou.

Five Elements: Gold, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth

Yang male, Yang female: The one who was born in year of Yang Gan, if the one is boy, he is yang male; if the one is girl, she is yang female.

Yin male, Yin female: The one who was born in year of Yin Gan, if the one is boy, he is yin male; if the one is girl, she is yin female.

Direct motion:  Count the palace clockwise one by one.

Backing motion: Count the palace counterclockwise one by one.

Life Plate: According to the year, month and date of the birthday, put proper stars on the twelve palaces. When you finished the arrangement, the plate you get is “life plate”.

Palace Wall: Divide the life plate into twelve grids. The grid is called Palace or Palace wall.

Big Luck, Big Limit:  One palace controls the fate for ten year, named Big Limit or Big luck.

Small Limit: One palace controls the fate for one year, named small limit.

Capital Palace: It is the main palace. For example, if you want to discuss career palace, then the career palace would be the capital palace.

Opposite Palace: The opposite palace of capital palace, for example, the career palace is the capital palace, the marriage palace would be the opposite palace.

Trinity Palace: For example, the career palace is capital palace, the life palace and wealth will be trinity palace.

Adjacent Palace: The adjacent palace of the capital palace, such as career palace, children palace and health palace.

Envelopment: Chen and Xu palaces

Four long life places: The four palaces of Yin, Shen, Si and Hai

Four nice places: Zi, Wu, Mao, You, also named four mahogany places

Four tomb palaces: Chen, Xu, Chou and Wei four palaces

Hua Yao: Hua Lu, Hua Quan, Hua Ke and Hua Ji

Kong Yao: Di Kong, Tian Kong, Jie Kong, Xun Kong

Xing Yao: Tain Xing and Qing Yang

Taboo Yao: Hua Ji and Tuo Luo

Six Lucky Stars: Wen Qu, Wen Chang, Zuo Fu, You Bi, Tian Kui, Tain Yue.

Six Bad Stars: Ling Star, Mars, Di Kong, Di Jie, Qing Yang, and Tuo Luo.

Four Evil (Four Sha): Ling Star, Mars, Qing Yang, and Tuo Luo.

Contrast: The star which is contrast to the star in capital star named “Contrast”.

Meet: The stars meet in trinity palaces and four positive.

Mutual guard: Two or more stars locate in the same palace

Single appearance: For example, Wen Qu star appears but Wen Chang star does not appear in the trinity and four positive places.

Clip: Two stars locate both side of the capital palace. The capital palace is clipped by these two stars.

Empty Palace: There is no positive star in the palace.

Borrow Star: This palace is empty, so borrow the star in the opposite palace as the capital star.
