The myth of Ares had something to do with the story of golden wool.
The origin of golden wool related to Athamas, the former king of Thebes. At first, Athamas had a pair of children, Phrixus and Helle. Yet, after the queen died, he got married with another women. The stepmother planned to kill Phrixus and Helle for she wanted to help her child becoming the king. In the time of danger, Zeus sent a flying sheep to save their lives. But Hell was fallen in the halfway. And Phrixus reached the eastern coast of Black Sea, Colchis successfully.
Later, king of Colchis killed the sheep and sacrificed to Zeus. For appreciating the contribution of the golden sheep, Zeus made the sheep becoming the constellation in the sky. |
