In explaining the cards, the major cards usually stand for the portion that people cannot control. Therefore, when the major card appears with high ratio, it means that the querent cannot do anything for this problem. In addition, it also means such problem is an important event which will do great effect to the querent.
Besides, if the overwhelming majority of the spread are major cards (e.g., ten cards with seven to eight major cards), it means that the querent does not have special question. He/she just cannot forget the thing and care about that thing. That is to say, such situation shows that the thing is very important to the querent, yet no special event will occur in the surface. All the things are just carrying out in the inner mind of the querent.
The four suits on the minor cards have various characteristics. The wands focus on motion (usually relates to job). The swords have two meanings, one is damage, the other is consideration. The cups focus on emotion and human relations. The pentacles have something to do with money, substance and entertainment. So in the practical divination, not only you have explain the single card’s meaning, but also you have to observe the structure of the whole spread. Which type is more? Major cards or minor cards?
No matter what things you want to divine, the appearance of swords often makes people unpleased. It shows that the querent might be hurt in some ways. After open the spread, it is suggested for the divinatory to check the ratio of major cards and the minor cards. Hold the key point and character of the problem and then explain the cards one by one. This can help you to concentrate on the main points and not get lost in the spread. |
